Each year, the KES Alumni Association awards five Bursaries/Scholarships (download form here), at the beginning of each school year and twelve prizes are given out at the June School Closing.

Life Membership fees support the K.E.S.A.A. Guild & Foundation Fund which fund these awards.  (The Bursaries/Scholarships are income tax deductible)

Alumni Trust Fund Bursaries/Scholarships
  • Edgehill Old Girls’ Bursaries: 2 Bursaries awarded by the Alumni Association to the worthy daughter of an Old Girl or Old Boy, one for a Boarder ($4000) and one for a Day Student ($3000).  
  • KCS Old Boys’ Bursaries: 2 Bursaries awarded by the Alumni Association to the worthy son of an Old Boy or Old Girl, one for a Boarder ($4000) and one for a Day Student ($3000).
  • The M. H. Roechling Memorial Scholarship: Established in memory of Miss Roechling, former Headmistress of Edgehill School (1919-1946). Awarded by the Alumni Association to a student of great promise ($4000).
Alumni Prizes
  • The Irma Barnes Music Award: the amount of $400 is awarded to a student, selected by the music teacher, to help defray expenses at a summer music camp of his/her choice. Mrs. Irma Barnes was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Edgehill Guild for 23 years from the 60’s to the 90’s.
  • John S. Derrick Prize (2 book prizes): 
    a. A book prize awarded to a girl in the Lower School who has contributed most to the life of King’s-Edgehill during the year. Mr. Derrick was the Principal of Edgehill from 1968 to 1973.
    b. A book prize chosen by vote of the students and awarded to a senior boy, who is not a prefect, not an officer in the cadet corps, and who most closely represents the ideals of “manhood, gentleness and learning”. Mr. Derrick was the Headmaster of KCS from 1960 to 1973.
  • Granny Marshall Prize: a book awarded to a student in Grade 11 with the highest mark in Science.  Mrs. C. Marshall was the Matron at King’s during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
  • Lousie MacQuarrie Bursary :  the amount of $400 is awarded to a day student who has shown an interest in the arts - specifically in writing, public speaking and drama.  Mrs. Louise MacQuarrie was the secretary and alumni liaison at King’s-Edgehill from 1978 to 1994.
  • Old Boys’ Gold Ring: a gold ring is awarded to the boy who has the highest average in Grade 11 and who has attended the School for grades 10 and 11.
  • Old Girls’ Gold Ring: a gold ring is awarded to the girl who has the highest average in Grade 11 and who has attended the School for grades 10 and 11. 
  • E. A. Murray Memorial:  $200 is given to the School to be used for a teaching aid in the English Department.  Miss Elizabeth A. Murray taught at Edgehill from 1919 to 1946.  
  • Fideliter Prize:  a silver locket is awarded to a girl who exemplifies the motto “FIDELITER”, meaning faithfulness – a firm holding to duty, being true to the School, your Country and to God.  
  • Grant Star:  a gold pin, passed on yearly, is awarded to the girl with the highest average in middle school (grade 9-10) and who is a returning student.  The pin belonging to Helen (Stairs) Grant 1910-1912 was returned to the school for use as this prize.  
  • Gold Star:  a gold pin is awarded to the girl with the highest standing through grades 10, 11 and 12. This prize was started in 1891, the founding year of Edgehill.  
  • Ferrabee Medal:  a gold medal, passed on yearly, is awarded to the girl with the highest percentage, in the upper school, who is a returning student.  This medal belonged to the first head girl of Edgehill, Mrs. Mary (Partridge) Ferrabee (1891).
